ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Electric Supply Corporation (IESCO) has decided to pay Rs 5,000 per month as honorarium to meter readers who will record accurate meter reading through mobile phones.
A source in the IESCO said, “The incentive will be paid on the basis of performance and the meter readers on recording correct reading through mobile phones will be entitled to the honorarium”.
The source said, “Electricity theft case have dropped considerably with the introduction of meter reading through mobile phones”. A letter (No 1780/81) has been issued by the IESCO chief engineer to all superintendent engineers to implement the incentive.
