ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Chaudhary Birjees Tahir refused to meet with the members of Kashmir Council after the exchange of hot words between them . During the meeting the members chanted slogans against the corruption of ministers.

The officers of Ministry for Kashmir Affairs tried to appease two members of Kashmir Council including Sagheer Chughtai and Chaudhary Muhammad Mehboob on which they snubbed the bureaucrats and staged a sit-in right in front of the main gate of the Council’s office against the rude behaviour of the minister.

When the Daily Times contacted both the members they said that the minister Birjees Tahir issued a cheque for Rs 7.5 million to a development scheme by taking a bribe of Rs 2.5 million and the government could not even releasea work order of the project. They said that the federal minister had touched the last limits of corruption.

Both the members told this scribe that federal minister Birjees Tahir had deducted Rs 1.5 billion from the development funds of AJ&K and the amount was distributed among the PML(N)’s candidate in the State
elections , which is open pre-poll rigging. They said that Birjees was spending the money of Kashmiri tax payers on getting the victory of PML(N)’s candidates in AJK polls as well as spending it on personal luxuries .

They demanded audit of Kashmir Council and removal of Birjees Tahir from his seat. They said that they have full proofs against the massive corruption of Birjees and if deemed necessary they would knock the doors of the court of law .

They will also present these evidences in front of the people. When this report tried to contact Federal Minster Chaudhary Birjees Tahir, his mobile phone was switched off.
