Sir: The Lahore Metro Bus was being built and a handful of opposition sprung up demanding that the construction of the metro bus be halted for reasons leading towards destruction rather development of the city. I was almost convinced that the city doesn’t really need projects like the metro bus.

Today, I come across a lot of people who used to criticize the construction of the metro bus but now they are among its beneficiaries. As a keen observer of current affairs, watching the news I discovered that the CM Punjab while addressing a seminar on the Orange Line Metro Train project said that a handful of elites are opposing the projects which are meant for uplifting the poor. I totally agree with him. As a matter of fact, these elites have not even struggled enough to travel using public transport buses, how come they understand why the poor needs the OLMT.

Have they ever been into a labourer’s shoes? Do they even know what does it feel like when the poor have to travel with no air conditioners to soothe their senses while they travel with all the luxury? Are they ever going to use the metro train? I believe that all this criticism and negative propaganda will mean nothing once the construction of the OLMT is completed. History is only repeating itself; the case of the metro bus in Lahore is an example.
