ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan, has posted a series of tweets on the Internet’s microblogging website, accusing the Sharif family for allegedly starting a propaganda campaign against their political opponents using the tax payers’ money.

“To hide their own corruption, the Sharifs have launched a massive propaganda campaign against political opponents funded by the taxpayers’ money,” he said.

The PTI chairman further questioned the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for not taking action against the premier and his family for using public money in an attempt to clear their image on the media and in front of the world.

The cricketer-turned-politician accused the premier of launching a smear campaign against the former’s charitable Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH) in response to the accusations of acquiring illegal money in Panama leaks against the Sharif family. “The Sharifs need to realise this is Pakistan – a democracy, not a monarchy where they clan can rule with no accountability by the people,” he tweeted.

Imran also stood out strongly against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s claim that the International Consortium for Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) had issued an apology for including the premier’s name in the Panama Papers.

Historic rally: Imran also announced restoring PTIs six wings which were suspended for last several months. He even claimed to hold a historic public rally and gathering on May 1 on The Mall. For the first time in the country’s history, influential people will be held accountable.

He was talking to the media after chairing an intra-party meeting at the PTI Chairman Secretariat office here on Thursday. Imran said that PTI will hold a “net practice” on May 1 for marching towards the PM House. The PM should clarify the alleged blames which are levelled against him despite his holding public gatherings in the different cities. He said that the PM was holding a public gathering in KPK because Nawaz’s ca nnot face the Lahoris.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has broken the four laws after appearing to defend himself on the Panama leaks on the television screen including not giving tax amount, to be a part of corruption, money laundering and misinterpreting to the Election Commission of Pakistan by not disclosing his real assets.

He said that the PM should speak the truth to the nation instead of taking help by making lame excuses. Imran said that PTI would strengthen the security arrangements on May 1 to facilitate their activists and to face any untoward incident. He said that they have identified the accused who have misbehaved with PTI female activists during the public gathering on the occasion of the 20th Foundation Day of PTI at Islamabad.

Lashes out at bad governance: While speaking on the issues of loan, Imran said that the PML-N government had broken past records by taking a loan of Rs 5000 billion in its three years’ tenure. He said that corruption had weakened the country and that is “a big problem in its progress”. He claimed that in just only one day Rs. 12 billion were going into the pockets of “corrupt people”.
