ISLAMABAD: The Parliamentary Board of PPP AJK has decided to take interviews of the candidates on May 1 (Sunday) for the elections of Kashmir Council just to satisfy the candidates.
The reliable sources told Daily Times that the leadership of AJK PPP has already selected three candidates for Kashmir Council’s four seats, which it can win according to number of their members in AJK Legislative Assembly. Those candidates who were finalized from some more than 80 applicants are Amjad Jalil, Younas Mir and Chaudhary Idrees. sources said, adding that Sardar Qamar Zaman brought Amjad Jalil forward as he got Rs 50 million bribe from him for the Kashmir Council seat, whereas Amjad also gave Rs30 million to President AJK Sardar Yaqoob.
The sources said that for the victory of Amajd Jalil, both Sardar Yaqoob and Sardar Qamar Zaman have given token money to some 11 members of assembly.
On the other hand the two other candidates Younas Mir and Chaudhary Idrees have offered Rs 150 million each to the top leadership of AJK PPP. The all three candidates have been assured that they would become member of Kashmir Council on the ticket of PPP.
But during the party meeting Secretary General Chaudhary Latif Akbar advised the party leadership if they would not satisfy the 80 applicants who apply for the membership of Kashmir Council, then the party will face great loss in the upcoming general elections of AJK Legislative Assembly.
On which the meeting has decide that interviews might be held on Sunday just to please the party candidates, but the party tickets would be given to these three candidates who are already finalized. An veteran of PPP AJK on the condition of anonymity said that Prime Minister Chaudhary Abdul Majeed had also pledged some leaders of the party for the membership of Kashmir Council some four years ago but when the time arrived to submit applications, Majeed bluntly refused them by saying that heavy amount to be paid to top leadership of the party and they cannot afford it.
