Chief justice reaches Pakistan after official visit to Turkey

ISLAMABAD – Supreme Court Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali has returned to Pakistan after an official visit to Turkey late on Friday night.

Jamali’s return was being anxiously looked upon as significant developments are now expected in the next 72 hours regarding the Panama Leaks’ commission fiasco.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had written a letter to the chief justice seeking to set up a judicial commission to probe issue of Panama Papers, after opposition parties rejected his earlier announcement that a commission headed by a retired judge would look into the matter.

The commission was delayed due to CJ’s scheduled visit to Turkey. However despite this arrangement being agreed upon, the commission formation suffered further problems as opposition parties rejected the government’s terms of references (TORs) that were set in regards to the investigation commission.
