KARACHI: Police have claimed to have recovered one more newborn baby kidnapped from a Qatar hospital which has a legacy of such incidents in the outskirts of the metropolis on Friday.

There have been incidences of kidnapping babies using the intra-Hospital network. They kidnap children from one hospital and shift them into another one in case of emergency treatment, the source disclosed.

A newborn baby girl was reportedly kidnapped from the Government-run Qatar Hospital in Orangi Town. After the incident, the family complained to the police and informed them about the kidnapping of their newly born baby girl.

Amir, the father of the newborn told the police that a woman presenting herself as staff of the hospital took custody of a newborn and later vanished with the child.

The police later investigated the matter and managed to trace the suspects with the help of close circuit cameras installed at the hospital.

The police traced the accused, Faizan, with the help of CCTV footage and later arrested his wife, N* and also recovered a kidnapped baby from Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where she was under treatment.

Their arrests were disclosed during a press conference held by Orangi Division SP Abid Ali where he informed the media that the couple involved in the kidnapping was being inquired about and they would also be questioned about more possible kidnapping cases.

This is not the first time when the police have foiled a kidnapping of newborns from hospitals – particularly government run hospitals. Recently, the police arrested an eleven member gang involved in newborn kidnappings from the same hospital and Sohrab Goth about a couple of months ago when the police was investigating a case of kidnapping of newborns.
