Sir: I wish to direct the attention of the authorities towards the sad fate of several families in Layyah. The poisonous sweets have already claimed more than 30 lives, hospitalising several others. The dismal state of food regulation authorities is not a new tale.
Similar incidents of food poisoning are often reported by media; however, no significant action is ever taken by the administration. Unless government carries out an extensive investigation of this episode, such tragedies will continue to wreak havoc with many lives. I appeal to the concerned authorities to catch all perpetrators of Layyah tragedy so that the process of elimination of unhygienic businesses remains strong.
