Islamabad police not taking action against fellows

ISLAMABAD: Officials of the Federal Capital’s police department are still not taking due course of action against their “brothers” (companions in uniform) despite an FIR filed against them followed by an order by a judge of the District and Sessions Court, Islamabad.

According to details, a citizen of Islamabad named Syed Badar Munir had filed an application in the office of a judge of the District and Sessions stating that his son Ziaul Haq, who was a law student at the International Islamic University in Islamabad, was taken away on February 12 from his house by four to five cops from the Sabzi Mandi Police Station assisted by a same number of plain clothes policemen.

When there was no information about the whereabouts of Ziaul Haq, Syed Badar Munir filed a petition of illegal confinemenet of his son by the police, at the Islamabad High Court. As a result of this the missing son was found and it was also discovered that he had been detained on a false FIR filed at Bhara Kahu Police Station as a result of which he was arrested and detained by the Sabzi Mandi policemen.

The father also said in his petition that not only a false FIR had been filed against his son but the cops had also imprisoned him on false accusations. He appealed that action be taken against the SHOs of Bhara Kahu and Sabzi Mandi Police Stations along with action also demanded against two sub inspectors and other associates totalling 10 in all. Syed Badar Munir wanted to file a case against these police officials. Responding to his appeal, the District and Sessions Court ordred the Inspector General (IG) to file an FIR against the 10 policemen and thoroughly investigate the matter. But the court also told the IG not to arrest these cops until solid evidence was found proving their guilt.
