LAHORE: A woman and her 13-year-old son died when roof of their house collapsed in Gummati Bazaar, Tibbi City area on Saturday, while other family members remained safe.
According to details, Muhammad Akram of Gummati Bazaar, his wife Jameela Bibi, sons Moeen Akram andHassnain Akram and four daughters were sleeping when a dilapidated roof of their room fell on them, trapping the family under the debris. A number of locals gathered at the spot and immediately started rescue operation. Locals informed the police and rescue teams that they pulled the injured persons from under the rubble.
The injured were taken to a nearby hospital where Jameela Bibi and her 13-year-old son Moeen Akram succumbed to injuries while the condition of other injured was said to be out of danger. Police handed over the dead bodies to their heirs after completing legal formalities.
