German envoy calls on Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD: German Embassy Deputy Head of Mission Peter Felten called on Finance Minster Ishaq Dar on Saturday. The envoy felicitated Dar on signing of the agreement between Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), UK’s DFID-funded Karandaaz Pakistan and Germany’s Kreditanstaltfr Wiederaufbau (KfW) bank for the establishment of Pakistan Microfinance Investment Company (PMIC). Appreciating the contribution of the KfW in the PIMC, the finance minister lauded the German support for different development projects in Pakistan. Peter Felten discussed with the minister programme of his engagements at the forthcoming annual meeting of Asian Development Bank, being held in Frankfurt on May 2. The minister said he looked forward to his meetings with German leadership, specially the German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Dr Gerd Muller. Senior officials of the Finance Ministry also attended the meeting. Meanwhile, Dar chaired a meeting of the Laws Review Committee (LRC) on Saturday. The meeting had detailed discussion on the Draft Apprenticeship Bill, initiated by Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, besides having deliberations on other legislative proposals to be tabled in the National Assembly. The status of processing of various other legislative proposals which currently are at draft stage, was also reviewed. Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid, State Minister for IT Anusha Rehman and Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Law Barrister Zafarullah Khan attended the meeting.
