LAHORE: To show solidarity with the working class, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Sunday held a rally against government’s “anti-labour” policies in connection with the international Labour Day.

The rally, led by PPP leaders Qamar Zaman Kaira, Ch Manzoor, Abdul Qadar Shaheen, Aslam Gill, Sohail Malik, Aziz Chann, Faisal Mir and others, was started from Lahore Railway Station and culminated at Lahore Press Club (LPC).

Addressing the rally, the PPP leaders urged the government not to privatise national institutions and avoid adopting anti-labour policies. Criticising the rulers, they said the Panama leaks have exposed the nobility of the rulers.

The charged workers while dancing on the beats of traditional Punjabi Dhol chanted slogans against government. It is pertinent to mention here charged workers were also holding a big pictorial banner of communist leaders Karl Marx and Lenin along with Bhutto family.

Speaking on the occasion, Qamar Zaman Kaira demanded PM Nawaz Sharif to constitute a commission to probe the Panama Papers allegations as per demands of the PPP. He warned the rulers that people would force them to step down if they would not listen to their voices.

He said the prime minister, after being exposed in the Panama leaks, has started public campaign to regain the public confidence. However, he predicted that the number of days for “so-called” noble government has been counted, and this time Sharifs would not be spared.

Later the participants dispersed in a peaceful manner.
