QUETTA: Balochistan’s former chief minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch Saturday presented himself for accountability after Finance Secretary Mushtaq Raisani was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for his involvement in the large-scale corruption.

Addressing the Balochistan Assembly, Dr Abdul Malik stated that while serving as the chief minister of the province, he totally remained unaware of such a mega corruption being carried out. “Hence, I have decided to present myself for accountability,” he said. Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader and Opposition Leader in the Balochistan Assembly Maulana Wasay demanded that Dr Malik and his team should resign from the House. Pakhtunkhwa National Awami Party (NAP) leader Liaquat Agha accused that every minister in the former government owned a flat in London. Balochistan Finance Advisor Mir Khalid Lango said that he was vulnerable to the scandal in regards to his designation, adding that he must remain dissociated from his post as long as investigation into the corruption case continues.

Member of the assembly Zmarak Khan Achakzai criticised the government, asked that what happened to the slogans being raised by them regarding making the province corruption-free?” He said, “We must wait to see how much more money is recovered.”
