ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority(NADRA) has totally failed to take action against thousands of dual national identity cards and passport holders.
Some 2100 Afghan nationals were deported out of 25000 Afghans who were apprehended on the allegations of having fake documents. The law enforcement agencies also recovered several Pakistani identity cards from the custody of each person.
Now the Ministry of Interior has ordered NADRA to take stern action against those who hold bogus national identity cards of Pakistan.
In the Southern Punjab a large number of Afghans are living who can speak Saraiki language with great authority and due to their linguistic skill they not only transform into traders but also hoodwink the law enforcement agencies in any operation against them.
The dual as well as bogus identity cards holders have become a grave concern for NADRA. Some 119158 cases of dual national identity cards have been detected by NADRA. In about 13165 cases ,the department admits that it was due to its minor mistakes due to which two cards were made of the same man.
Whereas in some 81563 cases the error was at the end of the citizens , who applied for identity cards , but out of this some 4546 cards holders had got their national identity cards with malicious intentions.
There are almost above 1000 people who got their dual national identity cards as well as two passports too. As many people went abroad so action against the dual passports holders was still pending .
On the whole NADRA has cleared some 99724 cases where two ID cards were made of the same person either with the error of department or due to the mistake of the applicants.
The NADRA sources said that the dual identity cards holders who have reached 53 years have not levied any fine but the persons who are at the age of 18 to 52 are being fined Rs 1000 each.
The sources said that some 64000 cards are also blocked and action was taken against those who got ID ID cards by giving wrong information.
