ISLAMABAD: The parliamentary committee on election reforms would take up the appointment of new members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday.
The terms of the incumbent members of the ECP would complete on June 10. Now the government has to decide weather new members of the ECP would be appointed under the current law or a new law would be enacted in the light of the recommendations of a sub-committee of the parliament on election reforms, committee sources told Daily Times on Sunday. The parliamentary committee would meet with its chairman, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, in the chair at the Parliament House on Monday (today). The committee would approve the report of the sub-committee, which is working under Federal Law Minister Zahid Hamid. The federal law minister would brief the committee about the recommendations of the political parties on the appointment of new members of the ECP, the sources said.
