Surprise visit to under-construction hospital in Raiwind

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif paid a surprise visit to under-construction 60-bed Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) at Raiwind on Sunday.

He inspected under-construction wards, operation theaters, kitchen and labs and issued necessary instructions for early completion of the project of the hospital. The chief minister expressed indignation over increase in the cost of project of the hospital and ordered investigation to know its causes.

He inspected different parts of the hospital and directed concerned officials to complete the work of installation of machinery and medical equipments in the hospital at the earliest. He said that the hospital should be completed in June so that best treatment facilities could become available to the people of the area.

He directed a third party audit into the construction work of the hospital, saying that the NESPAK managing director should personally visit the hospital and complete third party audit work under his supervision. Shahbaz also directed early completion of park of the hospital.

After visit to the hospital, the chief minister addressed a large number of people and party workers present on the occasion. He said that he had promised construction of the hospital for the citizens of Raiwind, adding that this hospital is in final stages of completion. He said that although delay has accrued in the construction of the hospital and he has taken its notice and ordered its inquiry, adding that action would be taken against the persons responsible in the light of investigations.

He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the government is making round the clock efforts for public service, adding that the mission of public service is being forwarded with honesty and hard work. “I never tolerated corruption and indiscriminate action is being taken against complaints of corruption. Resources are a trust of the nation and are being spent on the nation with complete honesty,” he added.

The chief minister announced construction of a flyover on Raiwind Railway Crossing and said soon the foundation stone of the flyover would be laid. He said that service to the people is his mission and no effort would be spared in this regard. He said other problems of the citizens of Raiwind would be resolved on priority basis.

MNA Afzal Khokhar, MPA Gulzar Gujjar, Commissioner Lahore, Primary and Secondary Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan, DCO Lahore and other concerned officials were present on the occasion.
