Nabi Yousaf Memorial Golf Challenge Cup tees off today

LAHORE: A galaxy of country’s professionals will underline their talent and technique during the inaugural Nabi Yousaf Memorial Professional Golf Challenge Cup which is starting at Royal Palm Golf and Country Club here from Wednesday (today). A spokesman for the organisers told reporters on Tuesday that this event would be an exclusive for golf professionals only. “It represents a fresh and new addition to the golf calendar of Pakistan,” he added. This championship is named after Nabi Yousaf and this is a combination of two icons of a well known Sheikh Family who had their origins in Jhang. Nabi was the family elder while Yousaf was his son and both were men of guts and courage and business acumen who ventured into the world of land development and through devotion and hard work emerged as business leaders.

The spokesman also shared that one of the off springs of their efforts was the globally known Royal Palm Golf and Country Club and the associated Royal Palm Golf Course which would host this rich golf event where professional golf champions were going to illuminate the golf scene of the country. The positive aspect of this Challenge Cup is that it is open to the top golf professionals of the country only. In this regard every significant professional of the national golf scene that matters in the golf arena of Pakistan will be there to demonstrate his brilliance and compete in a most dignified manner. “The top ranked professionals feel honoured by this event wherein only the professionals can participate and compete, and in return are determined to come up with amazing golf scores so as to bring joy to all stake holders associated with this championship and in the process prove that they are champions of value in this game of skills,” the spokesman maintained.

For the professional golf players of Pakistan, this event seeks to create a prodigious opportunity and ample are the cash prizes for the top performers. The prize money is Rupees two million to be distributed amongst forty top position holders. The main championship for the professionals will be held over four days from May 12 to 15. Each day the participating will play 18 holes and over four days this will add up to a championship of 72 holes. The professional who emerges with the best gross score after four rounds (72 holes) will be the winner of the Nabi Yousaf Memorial Professionals Golf Challenge Cup 2016. He will also be entitled to a lucrative cash prize. As a part of this championship, a PRO AM event will also be held on Wednesday. This event will be contested over 18 holes only. In this event the amateurs will team up with a selected professional and compete as partners. A total of 93 professional golfers will vie for top honours.
