Jamia Hafsa teacher ‘missing’ five months on

ISLAMABAD: Owing to lack of interest by Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa administration in the matter of mysterious kidnapping of Jamia Hafsa teacher Maulana Abdul Qayyum, the case has been registered by police after five months of his disappearance.

Brother of missing Maulana Abdul Qayyum Mughal registered case of his disappearance some days back in Aabpara Police Station and police have started searching for him.

Maulana Abdul Qayyum who was in-charge of Dhalla branch of Jamia Hafsa had disappeared mysteriously from Aabpara area on December, 14, 2015.

According to Lal Masjid spokesman Hafiz Ehtesham, meal is provided to all small branches of Jamia Hafsa from main branch G-7/3. Maulana Abdul Qayyum came up in van to collect meal for his branch of madrassah on December, 14, 2015 night and he was alone at that time. He left G-7/3 and since then his mobile phone stands switched off. No member of Jamia Hafsa and Lal Masjid could contact him after it. He is missing along with his van since five months.

Police said that an application was filed in the police station five months back but no one showed interest in the matter and this way registration of case process was delayed. However, his brother who lives in Faisalabad has registered the case a few days back. Police has started investigation into the case. According to police Maulana Abdul Qayyum had made last contact with administration of Jamia Hafsa through his mobile. However, he had taken meal with him for his madrassah and since then his mobile phone was switched off. Police has obtained record of all calls of his mobile phone.
