ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Baluchistan has called the former advisor Khalid Lango for interrogation on the indication of ex secretary finance Mushtaq Raisani. The NAB team would question him on the basis of available documentary evidences.
Well placed sources confirmed if Lango would fail to satisfy NAB team on the basis of evidences then he would be apprehended.
After the recovery of some Rs 650 million, precious ornament, hefty foreign currency and expensive vehicles, Khalid Lango announced to resign and extend full cooperation to NAB in the investigation.
The sources said that the under custody, Secretary Finance Mushatq Raisani has mentioned during the course of investigation that an important political personality from Baluchistan, a contractor and Executive Engineer Qalat Tariq Ali were also involved in the corruption saga.
The most important aspect of the investigation, so far carried out is that Khalid Lango belongs to Baluchistan National Party, which is headed by Mir Hasil Bizanjo. Mushtaq Raisani was appointed on the post of Secretary Finance on the recommendation of Bizanjo. Prime Minister approved the name of former Chief Minister Baluchistan Dr Abdul Mailk Baluch for the slot due to his personal affection with Bizanjo.
When Dr Malik took the charge as CM, Khalid Lango was appointed as Advisor Finance instead of finance minister. After Mushtaq Raisani, the investigation from Khalid Lango definitely open the way for the NAB leading towards the homes of many political leaders.
The NAB got the 14 days physical remand of contractor Sohail Majeed, who confessed during initial investigation that he got the contract on political links. He also told NAB that the amount which was recovered from the residence of Mushtaq Raisani, was to be divided into four equal parts and his share was Rs 260 million. He also told the NAB that some important political personalities were involved in the dirty game.
On the other hand NAB Baluchistan has got some vital information from the former Chairman Baluchistan Public Service Commission Muhammad Ashraf Magsi.
The sources said that the accused used to receive Rs 5 million from each candidate for getting clear in the competition examinations with good marks, while the candidate may take rest at home.
He also appointed his sons, daughters and close relatives on important posts. Ashraf Magsi was appointed on the post of BPSC’s head by former Governor Zulfiqar Magsi, who was also required by the NAB in the case of misappropriation of secret funds, but he paid Rs 250 million to NAB under plea bargain and got the clearance certificate form NAB.
The good performance of NAB Baluchistan especially in the cases of Mushtaq Raisani and Ashraf Magsi, has jolted the entire province.
A proposal is on cards of NAB’s high-up to give one month’s extra pay and merit certificate to those officers who showed good performance.
