ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) while allowing the federal government’s intra-court appeal turned down its single-bench judgment ordering the federation to provide a bulletproof car to former chief justice Iftikhar Muhamamd Chaudhry.

A division bench of the IHC comprising Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi and Justice Athar Minullah announced reserved judgment and referred the case to the single-bench to take it up again. IHC judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui on January 3, 2014, had ordered that the former CJP be provided a bulletproof vehicle for an indefinite period.

The federation had taken plea that the prime minister had accorded approval for providing Chaudhry a bulletproof vehicle for three months. All the expenses including fuel were to be incurred by the federal government. The federation had said that former CJP would make his security arrangement during the period, but the single-bench had issued orders for providing him vehicle for an indefinite period.
