SUKKUR: On Sunday, philanthropists requested people to donate blood to save lives.

Addressing a press conference at Sukkur Press Club, President Sukkur Blood Bank and Donating Society (SBBDS), Dr Naeem, General Secretary, Abdul Jabbar Khan said that the annual expenditures incurred upon the treatment of poor thalassaemic child patients are much higher and to help them, everyone must donate blood.

They asserted that healthy people must donate blood to save someone’s life and to be a hero it is only possible by donating blood at the time of need. “We need a blood donor in an emergency; we help people by connecting with volunteer blood donors,” said Khan.

They revealed that more than 20 million rupees were needed to run the Sukkur blood bank for which SBBDS needs donations. They demanded the masses to deposit Zakwat during the holy month of Ramadan.

“Sukkur blood bank is not only providing blood to poor thalassaemic patients but also we are giving free medicine,” they said. Dr Naeem further stated that normal delivery charges were being applied at the hospital at only Rs. 1000 which is much less than other private sector hospitals.

They appealed to philanthropists and pious people to donate their funds to Sukkur blood generously so uninterrupted medical services could be provided to poor patients in the area.
