ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court while setting aside the disqualification of PML-N MNA Sultan Mehmood Hanjra from Muzaffargarh has restored his membership.
The Election Tribunal (ET) had disqualified the MNA, who had won the NA-176 constituency, after his rival candidate Ghulam Mustafa Khar had challenged his winning notification alleging that he had concealed his assets while submitting his nomination papers. A three-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali overturned the ET’s verdict and restored his membership on Friday. Hanjra was also accused of obtaining a plot from Punjab chief minister. The ET while disqualifying him on July 19, 2014, had ordered re-polling in the constituency. Hanjra had challenged the ET decision in the Supreme Court in 2014.
