Raiding the Ill-famed Hotels

Author: Aminah Qureshi

Raiding motels, the edifices surrounding several tuition centres, colleges and universities, may seem to be an enthralling idea but in actuality, it is not charming at all.

The most abashing moment is that unmarried couples are interrogated about the reason(s) of their presence there despite knowing the answer beforehand. We all know what was being done behind the closed doors and what to expect from desperate students as well as teachers. Having studied psychology, the only question which occupied my mind while reading about one such chaapawas “What made them do so?” As luck would have it the answers are quite evident; however, it is equally unfortunate that our society remains to be blinded by the sparkles of cachet, ego, prestige, mulishness, and stubbornness. It is this very society and the norms devised by its members that provoke people to go against these carefully excogitated principles.

The causes include the following:

1) Striplings as well as mature adults have always been inclined towards selecting their future spouses independently but the lion’s share is afraid of facing rejection. It is owing to the hormonal play and high metabolic rates, signified by the amount of energy they have, these unwed pairs end up fornicating.

2) Parents tend to spend money on their children instead of giving them quality time. There is no apparent importance of time in front of the aroma of the crispy paper money but people actually need to think about their priorities. It’s not all about watching television or having dinner together.

In order to gain insights of their children’s lives, parents must first become their friends so that their children do not get exploited at the hands of strangers and most importantly, paedophiles. We, as a society, must become bold enough to give sex education to our toddlers because one day they will be on their own, walking the corridors of either a reputed university or a notorious motel.

Regrettably, the busts are not discussed for more than a week and therefore, youngsters continue to celebrate their unofficial wedding nights in these ill-famed rooms.

If we wish to rescue our present day adults and future generations from this societal evil, we need to think beyond our preferences.
