World’s first 24-hour Hello Kitty cafe opens at Singapore Changi Airport

You’ll now want to get to the airport super early just so you can dine at the brand new Hello Kitty themed cafe with the world’s most famous feline. The cafe, called Hello Kitty Orchid Garden, is located in the arrival hall of Terminal 3, which opened on May 12. It joins the other numerous Hello Kitty cafes and restaurants around the world.

Every Hello Kitty cafe around the globe features a different theme and so does the Singapore edition. The theme for this place is an ‘orchid garden’, a nod to Singapore’s national flower.

Here, you’ll get to consume pastries, indulge in cakes, do a teatime, and eat several types of dishes in the shape of everyone’s favourite cat. Of course, you can also buy Hello Kitty merchandise, some of which will be Singapore-exclusive.

While Hello Kitty Orchid Garden has a clear appeal for the famous feline’s big fans, the cafe’s owners say the music and atmosphere is not overtly kawaii — Japanese for cute — so as not to turn away non-Sanrio fans.

Similar to the other cafes, Hello Kitty Orchid Garden serves food that is shaped in Hello Kitty’s form. Injecting a local flavour to the food, the chefs have come up with locally-inspired dishes such as a wagyu beef rendang and pandan panna cotta.

This cafe is also the first in the chain to have its own gelato stand. Next to the main dining area, there’s a retail section, where diners and visitors can stock up on Hello Kitty merchandise. A limited edition Singapore Hello Kitty plush toy of the feline mascot wearing two bows on her head was also on sale. Only 500 are available for $49.90 each.
