President Mamnoon Hussain has said that there would be a lot of need for skilled youngsters after the completion of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and that they should be prepared for that.

Speaking as chief guest at the skills competitions award ceremony at the Governor House here, he said that those youngsters who desired to serve abroad, their professional and skill training should be conducted keeping in view their requirement. He also said that youths were precious asset of the country and the government was serious about the planning for their better future.

He said that those who failed to initiate development projects, including power projects in the past, had resorted to criminal negligence. However, he was convinced that with mega projects that have been started by the government, it was certain that the problems in Pakistan would be resolved leaving no room for maladministration or corruption.

The competitions were held under the auspices of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission under the Prime Minister Youth Skills Development Programme. He stated that the government was committed to imparting meaningful education to the youngsters and provide decent job opportunities to them.

– Tendency for extremism, militancy –

In the past, education and training of the youngsters faced neglect that gave rise to the tendency for extremism and militancy, Mamnoon pointed out. He said that the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission was imparting better skills training to the youth to make them useful member of the society and enabling them to earn job and financially assist their families.

The president directed the management of the commission to undertake planning for the training of the youth keeping in view their requirements in different fields. He was glad that the commission has also made arrangements for the guidance of the youth regarding availability of jobs. Such a service should be expanded to the district level as well so that more and more could benefit from such placement, guidance and counseling service.

Later, the president gave away awards to those youngsters who were adjudged as winners in the competitions. Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat ul Ebad Khan and Chairman of commission Zulfiqar Ali Cheema also expressed their view on the occasion.
