Capital in grip of crimes

Author: By Mehar Ali Khan

ISLAMABAD: The incidents of burglary, murder, abduction and theft are on the rise in the capital with the citizens feeling insecure owing to this increasing ratio of crimes.

According to details, at least five persons including two women were assassinated during the last week in the city while nine persons were also kidnapped in broad daylight.

Citizens were deprived of their valuables including cash worth millions of rupees, ornaments, motorbikes and vehicles in at least 26 incidents of burglary and theft during the last week. The capital police have completely failed to arrest the suspects.

Despite repeated visits to police stations of the city by the citizens, traditional tactics are being used by the police who merely registered their cases and did not initiate adequate measures to arrest the suspects.

The police have only satisfied the affected people by registering a case and conducting post-mortems of the deceased.

Besides this, as many as nine people including women and children were kidnapped in various
incidents.

The police have not succeeded in recovering any abducted person.

Citizens were also deprived of four vehicles and five motorbikes. In 17 incidents of theft, the citizens were deprived of cash, gold ornaments, cellular phones and other valuables.

Owing to the increasing ratio of crimes in the city, the citizens are feeling inscure. The capital police have merely registered the cases and have practically done nothing for the recovery of stolen items and arrest of the accused.
