ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Sunday arrested Agha Hazoor Shah, an executive engineer, on the basis of the information provided by arrested Balochistan Finance Secretary Mushtaq Raisani and seized cash amounting to billions of rupees from his house. Shah had hidden the money in the water tank of his house.
The NAB Balochistan took into custody Shah’s front man, contractor Asad Shah, and seized Rs 20.8 million from his house. The money seized from Agha Hazoor Shah’s house was being counted when this report was filed late on Sunday evening.
Agha Hazoor Shah was living in the Kali Ismail area, at a short distance from the house of Balochistan Finance Secretary Mushtaq Raisani, who was arrested on charges of corruption a few days ago and billions of rupees were seized during a raid on his house.
The sources said that the gang of three – Mushtaq Raisani, Mir Khalid Langove (who is on the run at the moment) and Agha Hazoor Shah – got commission from contractors openly and boldly. The contractors earned millions of rupees without any work and completed most of the development schemes only on papers.
Reliable sources told Daily Times that after the arrest of these corrupt officials and recovery of the plundered money, an emergency meeting of the ruling party, the National Party (NP), was held under the chairmanship of Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo. It was decided at the meeting that the party would put pressure on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to stop further arrests. The meeting discussed whether the NAB would expand the scope of investigation into the charges against the arrested officials. It was decided at the meeting that the NP would part ways with the ruling alliance if the NAB continues such raids on the houses of Balochistan officials.
It is pertinent to mention here that last year Dr Abdul Hai Baloch was removed as NP president and Bizenjo was elected new president of the party. Baloch kept silence for almost one year and then announced formation of a new political party.
Daily Times has confirmed reports that the NAB Balochistan is seizing the record of all the funds released to provincial ministers, members of the Balochistan Assembly, nazims and naib nazims from 2002 to 2016. Moreover, the record of funds issued through NGOs for development projects is also being collected.
