ISLAMABAD: Former deputy prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League (PML) leader Pervaiz Elahi has said that powerful legislation and joint terms of reference (ToRs) should be made to investigate Panama Papers in the light of the letter of the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

Talking to journalists alongside Senator Kamil Ali Agha and MNA Tariq Bashir Cheema outside the Parliament House, Elahi said that whatever happened in the National Assembly session was the strategy of all opposition parties, adding that the prime minister’s speech there has created more ambiguity.

Earlier, there were seven questions of the opposition to the prime minister which he himself has raised to 70 during his address, he said. Responding to a question, he said that the opposition has held consultation regarding new questions risen and would evolve a joint strategy.

He said that the consultations were also being held about the suggestion of the prime minister for setting up of a parliamentary committee. He said that the opposition representatives had gone into chamber on being called by the speaker and it was agreed that the talks would be held about ToRs to be formed.

He said that the chief justice has also expressed his views regarding joint ToRs and carrying out a proper legislation. In reply to another question, he said that the address of the prime minister in the National Assembly was not different from his previous addresses.
