ISLAMABAD: In the political scenario developed after Panama leaks, the leave of the most important and powerful man of Prime Minister’s Office, Fawad Hasan Fawad, the secretary to the prime minister, has given rise to many a question.

Fawad is considered to be the ‘most trustworthy’ bureaucrat by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family, who has always been part of all important political and national decisions.

An official at the PM House, however, told Daily Times that the approval of leave of Fawad is not an extraordinary or unusual thing which he applied for some months ago as he wanted togo to Columbia to attend the graduation ceremony of his daughter. The prime minister has now accorded him the approval and he will be back by middle of the next month, the official said.

On the other hand, there are reports that some important circles had reservations over Fawad’s ‘unlimited powers’ and certain decisionstaken by him and that even some ministers had complained against himto the prime minister.Misuse of his powers and direct interference in affairs of some ministries by Fawad wasalso conveyed to the prime minister.

There are rumours in the capital that Fawad issued instructions to a government department regarding change of plots and houses from one sector to others to favour some bureaucrat friends. Sources said such orders were also passed to the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation but these claims could not be verified independently.
