Development process of country to continue: PM

LAHORE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday said that the development process of the country would continue despite conspiracies being hatched against the government.

Addressing the party workers and representatives of local bodies at NA-119, he said that Pakistan had become an atomic power and now it was heading forward to emerge as an economic power.

The premier said that various development projects were underway, which were imperative for the progress and prosperity of the country.

He said that motorways, expressways and roads were being constructed from farms to markets, economic indicators were improving, terrorism had been eliminated to a large extent, Balochistan was becoming peaceful, a highway was being constructed from Khunjerab to Gwadar, Pakistan Railways was moving on the path of progress and many more good things were taking place.

Nawaz Sharif said the PML-N government had constructed motorways but unfortunately no other government continued the construction of motorways in the country, and now once again the work on Lahore-Karachi motorway was in progress, which would provide better travelling facilities to the people after its completion.

He said that by next year, a motorway from Lahore to Multan would be completed.

The prime minister said that those who had agenda of using foul language, staging sit-ins and halting the development process of the country, their voters must be repenting, adding the PML-N government would keep working for the development and prosperity of the country.

Nawaz Sharif told the workers that earlier he had a meeting in which Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif briefed him on the development works in Punjab, including Lahore.

He said that many development projects were underway, like Orange Line Metro Train, and all projects had been started for the welfare of the people.

He appreciated Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and said that he had made the Punjab an exemplary province.

The prime minister while speaking on energy projects said that different electricity generation projects were getting completed one by one and with the grace of Allah Almighty thousands of megawatts of electricity would be added to the system. He said that power generation projects, which required five year to get completed, had been completed in two years, while complete transparency had been ensured in the completion of the projects.

Three projects of 3,600MW had been started and one of it was completed and other two projects would be completed in a few months, he said. He said that Rs 112 billion had been saved in those three projects. The premier said that the PML-N workers knew that their leadership never indulged in the politics of cheating and the leadership tried to fulfil its promises with honesty.

He said that what training the PML-N leaders got from its elders followed it with commitment and would continue the same practice in future.

Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said that PML-N leadership and its workers faced hard times with unity, adding that workers who stood with PML-N in tough times were asset of the party.

He said that it was the good fortune of the party that it had workers who think in the larger interest of the country.

Later, the PM listened to the problems of party workers and assured them that their problems would be resolved accordingly.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, PML-N MNA Hamza Shehbaz, Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, MNA Pervaiz Malik, Provincial Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir and others were also present on the occasion.
