ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police is in deep waters to combat terrorism and safeguard the important buildings of the federal capital Islamabad because of lack of coordination among LEAs.

Islamabad Police have made contact to its subordinate department, Special Branch (SB) to get its report on terrorism. The Inspector General Islamabad Police Tariq Yasin has called an important meeting on Wednesday to evolve a strategy to fight against the menace of terrorism under National Action Plan.

During the meeting the matter regarding lack of cooperation and coordination between the police and other security agencies would also be discussed, sources said.

The Special Branch has prepared a report in which it indicated the threats of subversive activities on some important buildings of Islamabad and entry of some terrorists from Afghanistan.

It is a good precedent of non cooperation between different law enforcement agencies that although the special branch functions under the IG Islamabad but it did not forwarded the sensitive report to him and the Inspector General had to seek the report from Special Branch.

After the report the security around important buildings including Presidency, Prime Minister’s House, Parliament House and Parliament Lodges and other important government installations has been tightened. The inspector general show no confidence over the measures taken by the capital police for the security of these buildings before the Special Branch’s report.
