ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan is considering to invite Afghanistan to play in Quetta, capital of Balochistan, in the wake of improved law and order situation in the provincial capital. Accompanied by secretary general Quetta Region Noman Mashkoor and PCB coordinator Abdul Qayyum, Shaharyar was addressing a press conference at Bugti Cricket Stadium in Quetta on Thursday. Shaharyar stated that Afghanistan had shown consent to send their cricket team to Pakistan. “We are considering to arrange matches in Quetta, in order to provide locals an opportunity to watch international cricket.” Shaharyar said the PCB was planning to establish cricket academies in Quetta and Peshawar to search for prospective talent in the cities. He also urged Baloch youth to focus on education. “A cricketer must be educated as it is the need of the hour,” he remarked. The chairman further added that Governor Balochistan Mohammad Achakzai and Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri had been requested to construct new cricket stadiums in Quetta and other cities of the province.
