ISLAMABAD: Mir Khalid Humayoun Langove, former adviser to the Balochistan chief minister on finance, will appear before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan on Monday (today).

Langove has been granted protective bail by the Islamabad High Court (IHC). The NAB Balochistan has summoned him for questioning on Monday.

The NAB arrested Balochistan Finance Secretary Mushtaq Raisani and several other officials at the Quetta Civil Secretariat over allegations of corruption. Raisani was arrested in his office on May 6 after NAB officials seized millions of rupees and jewellery from his house.

After Raisani’s arrest, Langove resigned from his post and announced that he would voluntarily present himself for accountability. However, he did not appear before the NAB even after the authority summoned him. Instead, he reached Islamabad and got protective bail from the Islamabad High Court. The Islamabad High Court granted him protective bail for 12 days and directed him to appear before the NAB.

Langove’s lawyer said that his client was in Islamabad when the NAB summoned him for investigation and asked the court to grant him protective bail before his appearance before the NAB.

On the other hand, the NAB Balochistan is fully active after Raisani’s arrest. NAB officials looking into the charges against Raisani found more than 5 million rupees stashed in cartons at a bakery in Quetta. Arrested Asad Shah admitted that he misappropriated millions of government funds.

Contractor Sohail Majeed and Executive Engineers Tariq and Hazoor Shah have been arrested in connection with the Raisani corruption case so far.

Citing initial investigations, sources said that influence political people of Balochistan were patronising corruption in the province.
