Silencing dissent: Two killed in attack on peace committee members

PESHAWAR: Muhammad Khan, a peace committee member, and his police guard are shot dead by alleged militants in Bara Bandai area of Swat on Monday (today). The other police guard and a passerby also fell victim of the attack and sustained injuries – told police.

Station House Officer (SHO) Kangu Rahim Khan said the peace committee member was attacked near his house, and his police guards Bakhtbedar and Bilal were also shot at. The injured are sent to the hospital where Bakhtbedar succumbed to the injuries.

Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan spokesman, Muhammad Khorasani, took responsibility for the attack in an email sent to press.

Police have started a search action in the area, the SHO said.
