HYDERABAD: Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Information and Archives, Maula Bakhsh Chandio said that Prime Minister Nawaz Shareef had always turned to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) whenever he had found himself fin a crisis, and once again he has asked former president and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari to play his role in saving democracy.
He made these statements during his visit to Qasimabad under the instructions of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, where he observed the water facility being run by PPP workers. He also said that the electricity crisis in Sindh was artificial and some ministers of the Pakistan Muslim League- N (PML-N) didn’t even want to see a continuation of democracy. He also said that the prime minister had to listen to the voice of Sindh. The federal government must look into the fact that the smaller provinces were drifting apart, he added.
He said, “We are democratic people, and we want to see democracy to progress, but some friends and ministers of the prime minister do not want democracy. No wonder, then, that these people are giving such advice to the prime minister that would endanger democracy.” He said that the Federation had been unkind to Sindh and Karachi was suffering from shedding for hours while the rest of the province was being deprived of electricity for days at a stretch. “However, we do not want to create a crisis and would not resort to taking out public rallies against the Federation on the issue of electricity load shedding, a thing which Shehbaz Sharif used to do when the PPP was in power at the Centre,” he added. He also said that if public pressure increased, then things could go out of control.
As an answer to a question regarding the prime minister not having announced any development projects for Sindh so far, he said that some friends of the PM did not even like the name Sindh and do not wish to see any developments there. On the topic of allegations of factions within the PPP, he said that all those who tried to break the PPP in the past had suffered nothing but humiliation in the end.
