Opposition on same page to hold Sharif accountable: Naeem

Author: By Mamoona Arif

ISLAMABAD: The Central Secretary Information of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Naeem-ul-Haq has said that all the opposition is united on one point agenda of accountability of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should be accomplished.

While talking exclusively with Daily Times he said that after Panama Leaks came on surface, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should have announced the mid-term elections. PTI would not make any compromise on the accountability of corrupt politicians, he added.

He said that the parliamentary committee of the joint opposition would evolve the future’s strategy with consensus. The Terms of Reference (ToRs) for the inquiry of Panama Leaks should be made under the supervision of Chief Justice Supreme Court. This would not only enhance the credibility of judiciary but also the entire world would accept it, he added.

“PTI is making an effort to bring all the facts to public so that whole financial affairs of Nawaz Sharif should come in front of people. Media, political parties and lawyers are assisting in these efforts”, Naeem said, adding that PTI and other political parties are on the same page.

The PTI leader said that whole nation wants the reply of those questions which were raised by the joint opposition. No political party would retreat back from the agenda. The affairs relating to Panama Leaks, which belongs to Nawaz Sharif would no longer remain secret, he maintained.

“I was going to Faisalabad, at Bhera, I stopped at a hotel to take tea, and by chance at the same time Federal Minister Pervaiz Rashid was also present there. He offered me tea and I accepted his offer. We sat together and discussed some political issues over the cup of tea. He wanted to reduce the tension”, the PTI secretary said while giving clarification regarding his meeting with Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid.

During the sudden meeting Pervaiz Rashid suggested to pack up the matter of Panama Leaks until next election’s, he said, adding, “But I said that the nation is keen to know the replies of the questions which are raised and if the reply would not come in next two or three months, the anxiety of the nation would be increased”.

Naeem told this scribe by saying if Nawaz Sharif satisfies the nation, the tension would ultimately be diminished.

Responding to a question he said that the flexibility on ToRs by the opposition depends upon the behaviour of the government. PTI would make policy in cooperation with the other parties. They will move forward in the coordinated way and their reaction would also be same, he said.

He said that Imran Khan played county cricket and earned a lot of money and paid all the taxes in England. When in 1983 he wanted to buy a flat for his living at London, then the lawyers advised him to purchase the apartment on the name of offshore company so that if he would sell it tomorrow, he would not have to pay additional taxes at that time, PTI leaders said while clarifying the position of party chief.

Nawaz Sharif does not want to tell the people sources of income from which his sons made offshore companies, he said, adding when his families bought property in UK, then he was prime minister, but when Imran Khan procured an accommodation, he was a renowned cricket player and he was playing not only for national team but also representing different counties of England on hefty contract.
