CADD minister sends CDA chief on forced leave

ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has sent Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal on one month’s leave due to non compliance of his orders for creating 20 additional plots in sector I-10 and allotting those to a blue-eyed property dealer.

Additional Secretary CAAD Nasarullah Zafar, will take charge of Chairman CDA for one week while for the rest of the three weeks, Shahrukh Nusrat will take care of civic body.

An impression was given by the CDA that the chairman took leave on account of sickness of his daughter so that her surgery may be carried out in Lahore Hospital but some inside sources on the condition of anonymity, told the Daily Times that as a matter of fact, the state minister for CAAD sent him on leave for a period of one month as he did not obey his “unjust orders”. Now Tariq Fazal wants to complete an undue job from the new chairman.

The cousin of State Minister Imran Chaudhry put the pressure on the Chairman CDA for creating some 20 plots in I-10 Sector and handed over these plots to his nominated property dealer. This was bluntly refused by Maroof Afzal. Due to the reason he was given a forced leave of 30 days.

The sources said that Imran Chaudhry had allotted 67 precious plots in two months on the name of affected people. He got 19 plots allotted in I-10, 10 in I-11, 31 plots in Model Village Margalla Town and seven plots in Sector G-11.

Well placed sources told this scribe that Imran Chaudhry got the allotment of two or three plots on a daily basis . When the chairman CDA informed Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, he asked him to accommodate his cousin. He earned a profit of 3.5 million to 8 million rupees on each plot. He bought the file of each plot for Rs one million to 1.2 million and sold it for five million to 10 million rupees.

Deputy director general land department of the CDA was much annoyed with Imran Chaudhry but he had no authority to prevent this illegal allotment to him.

On one hand the other political figures got the costly plots in the posh sectors of Islamabad in the name of affected people and on the other side Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, after becoming state minister, played an important role in bestowing favour s to his close relatives.

When Daily Times contacted Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry he said if somebody used his name to get benefit, then he could do nothing.

He said that on his orders the serial of allotting substitute plots to the affected people was prevented. He said that although Chaudhry Imran was his cousin but he did not give any orders to anyone to accomplish immoral work.

He said if a cousin of a minister gets the plot in any sector , there is no legal embargo on him to do so.

When Daily Times tried to contact Imran Chaudhry to know his version on the matter, his cellular phone was found switched off.
