ISLAMABAD: Secretary Ministry of Petroleum has apprised the Standing Committee on Petroleum that monthly salary of Managing Director Pakistan State Oil (PSO) is more than Rs 3.7 million with two club memberships and unlimited use of petrol and mobile phone.
Secretary Petroleum did not explained whether these perks and privileges’ being paid to top boss of the PSO are legal or illegal and has Parliament approved the salary package of the PSO chief?
Standing Committee has sought the detail of perks and privileges the senior management of the PSO has been receiving from the national kitty.
The documents available with Daily Times revealed the horrendous revelation of senior management of the PSO as top officers are getting huge amount in their personal accounts against the services they claimed to have delivered to the masses.
Former MD Yaqub Sattar was being paid Rs 1.2 million and 400 liter petrol per month including two club memberships that cost million rupees to national exchequer.
Another former MD PSO Shahid Islam who is facing corruption charges was also being paid Rs 1.2 million including two club memberships and 400 liters petrol and the service of a driver.
Another former MD Amjad Pervaiz Janjua and Naeem Yaya, the both notorious in bringing the financial health of PSO at the verge of collapse ware being paid Rs 1.6 million including two club memberships per month.
During their services PSO was plundered worth of million rupees by importing sub-standard furnace oil worth of more than 6 billion rupees.
Deputy Managing director PSO Jehangir Ali Shah and Sohail Ahmed Butt were being paid Rs 1.4 million and two club memberships per month including unlimited use of petrol and mobile phone.
Ministry of Petroleum was so generous to them that it allowed 40 per cent of their salary as house rent and 20 per cent of salary for general allowance and 10 per cent for utility and special allowance.
Parliamentarians expressed their shock over the massive salary packages of senior management and remarked that parliamentarian who represented the masses in the Parliament, are getting meager perks and privileges as compare to PSO hierarchy.
