ISLAMABAD: Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s series of meetings with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former President Asif Ali Zardari is going on in London. The move is aimed at isolating Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI).

On Tuesday, JUI(F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman called on PPP’s Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari at his apartment and tried to convince him to leave the PTI aside and support Nawaz Sharif so that the dangers confronting democracy might be over.

Reliable sources said that ex-president Asif Ali Zardari sent a clear cut message to Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif through Maulana Fazlur Rehman that further negotiations could take place in this regard if the vengeful behaviour with Pakistan Peoples’ Party in Sindh was abolished forthwith.

He also said that it was the PPP who respected the Charter of Democracy till now, but the PML(N) just to gain political advantage, had put the CoD on its back at one juncture.

Zardari said that there was Chaudhary Nisar’s hand behind the action of the FIA and the Rangers against the PPP in Sindh but the Prime Minister failed in stopping his interior minister.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman attempted to persuade Zardari saying that if the PPP did not support the PML(N), then a third power could take benefit of the current situation and in that case the PPP and the PML(N) would have incur a heavy loss.

Zardari told Maulana Fazlur Rehman that he(Fazal) should ask the PM either to continue the vindictive actions against the PPP in Sindh or remove his apprehensions. If he agreed, then further talks could be held and even a meeting with Nawaz Sharif could be possible.

“During the period I will take Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the senior leadership of the party into confidence,” Zardari added.

Now after the comprehensive meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the Maulana will once again meet Asif Zardari.

It is pertinent to mention here that PM Nawaz Sharif is on a five day private visit to the UK which might be extended. Maulana Fazlur Rehman is in London on Sharif’s desire as Zardari had a lot of respect for the JUI(F) head.

In the past Maulana Fazlur Rehman supported Asif Ali Zardari and his party in hard times on several occasions. This is the very reason that the senior leader of the PPP Maula Buksh Chandio said that the Maulana could work out a miracle.

Now the Maulana is making full efforts to create differences between the PTI and the PPP so that Tehrik-e-Insaf might be left alone in the political arena.
