Smuggler of human limbs sent on remand

ISLAMABAD: The lower court has handed over an accused for trading of human organs to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on a four-day physical remand.

During the hearing, Sub Inspector Abid Hussain of the Special Investigating Unit told the court that accused Muhammad Shoaib used to take advantage of the needs of poor people and send them to India for liver transplantation by promising them heavy money.

In India the other members of the gang pilfer their kidneys through a surgery. The organs are then transplanted to any wealthy person by taking thousands of rupees from them.

The investigation officer appraised the court that the FIA had arrested two important members, namely Khawaja Saqib and Khawaja Ismail of the gang involved in selling of livers. On their indication the accused Shoaib was arrested.

A taxi driver Waqar had given an application to the FIA against the accused persons in which he took the stance that they persuaded him to give one million rupees and said a person Dr Samiullah needs some tissues from his liver.

He said in his application that as he was a poor man so he came in the stance. They brought me to a laboratory with the name ‘Diagnostic Center’ located at the vicinity of Karachi Company in Islamabad.

“Later the culprits prepared my passport and one of the gang members signed it on my behalf and got an Indian visa on it. I neither went to the passport office nor the Indian embassy”, the applicant added in his application.
