No good hospitals built in Nawaz’s tenure: Khurshid Shah

Author: Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly (NA) Khurshid Shah on Thursday criticized the prime minister by saying no good hospitals have been built during PML-N’s tenure; even Nawaz Sharif had to go abroad for treatment. Talking to media in the Parliament House, Shah said that politicians should not ‘shut doors on one another’, adding that the premier would have met former president Asif Ali Zardari in London by now if opposition was ‘friendly’.

Zardari’s meeting with the premier in the context of the Panama leaks would have sparked speculations. Shah said that Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had clarified there could be no meeting. He also said it was in Nawaz Sharif’s favour now not to convene a meeting with the PPP leadership.

Dismissing the development claims of the ruling party, the Opposition Leader said it was a pity that essential services like hospitals could not be built in Pakistan. Shah’s criticism came in after Nawaz Sharif went to London twice in less than two months for medical treatment. Both visits raised many eyebrows as they came after the Panama leaks, which showed Nawaz Sharif’s family to be among dozens of world leaders to own offshore companies. The leaks gave rise to suspicion across the board that tax evasion and corruption were the purposes behind the formation of offshore companies.
