ISLAMABAD: Policeman from federal police who was deprived of his official pistol by a culprit and was injured with the same pistol during raid has been given letter of commendation and cash prize.

IG Police Islamabad Tariq Yasin and SSP Sajid Kiyani have awarded letter of commendation and cash prize to police man who was injured by the culprit with his official pistol during the raid conducted to arrest a proclaimed offender in F-7/Markaz (Jinnah Super Market) a few days back and was deprived of his pistol by the said accused.

Kohsar Police had conducted raid in sector F-7/Markaz (Jinnah Super Market) Islamabad to arrest a proclaimed offender Shahzad Ahmad Cheema. The raid was carried out on a tip off that Shahzad Cheema was coming to Jinnah Super Market in connection with some deal.

Shahzad Cheema along with his accomplices who were present in Jinnah Super Market during raid put up stiff resistance.

Muhammad Zeb accomplice of Shahzad Cheema snatched official pistol 9 MM from Head Constable Asif Ali and shot him injured with the said pistol.

The accomplices of Shahzad Cheema fled from the scene on spotting police while Shahzad Cheema and Muhammad Zeb were arrested by raiding party. The police obtained remand of the two accused from the court for 3 days while 5 accused whose name could not be ascertained made good escape from the scene.

In order to show performance federal police awarded letter of commendation and cash prize to Head Constable whose pistol was snatched by the culprits during raid for his cowardice and lack of courage.

Cases of fake cheques valuing million of rupees have been registered against Shahazad Cheema. One cheque of Rs 5 million was given by him to one Syed Nasir Raza Naqvi and second cheque worth Rs 2.8 million was given to Muhammad Hassan. Both of the cheques were bounced and the accused was declared proclaimed offender for not appearing before the court.

Spokesman of SSP Islamabad revealed to Daily Times that Head Constable Asif Ali was given letter of commendation and cash prize for sustaining injuries during encounter with the accused.
