Incidents of violence claims six lives across city

LAHORE: At least six people were killed in different incidents across the city on Thursday.

A 30-year-old man was gunned down by his friend over monetary dispute in Misri Shah police limits. The deceased was identified as Asghar Butt, a resident of Siddique Gunj, Misri Shah. Police said that the accused, identified as Adil Butt of same area, was a friend of the deceased. On the day of incident, both quarreled over some monetary dispute in which some locals of the area also got involved and tried to settle down the matter but Adil got infuriated after exchange of harsh words. Later, the accused fired shot and wounded his friend Asghar and managed to escape the scene. The injured was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to injuries. Police removed the body to city mortuary for autopsy and did not register the case till the filing of this report.

Meanwhile, a 22-year-old youth was knocked down by a speedy tractor trolley in Sanda. The deceased was identified as Abdul Bari. Police said that victim was on his way on a bike when a speeding tractor trolley hit him near Bund Road and driver managed to escape the scene. The injured was rushed to a local hospital where he expired.

Similarly, another youth was killed by a rashly driven LESCO van in Baghbanpura. The deceased, identified as Waris of Baghbanpura, was on his way on a bike when the speedy van hit him near Sultan Mehmood Road, causing hum multiple injuries. The injured was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to injuries. Police has registered a case against the arrested van driver Danish.

Separately, rescuers fished out the dead body of a youth from Ravi River after two days. The youth had jumped in the river to avoid police custody.

The victim was identified as Ehsan Butt of Ravi Road. The vicitm’s parent also staged demonstration against police in front of the main gate of city mortuary. They blamed that the police arrested him in a fake robbery case and later threw him in the river. Police said that the victim was involved in different cases and was being taken to the police station when he suddenly jumped in Ravi in the presence of several people. The rescue teams reached the spot were trying to find him for the last two days. Body was sent to morgue.

Moreover, a 45-year-old man was found dead in the limits of Mughalpura police station and a 35-year-old man was recovered dead from the area of Bhatti Gate police station. Police claimed that the two men, who were yet to be identified, were addicts who might have died of drug overdose. Bodies were shifted to morgue.
