Dead bodies of two children recovered from Race Club water pond

LAHORE: The dead bodies of two children recovered from a water pond at Race Club in Kot Lakhpat police station area on Friday morning.

The deceased have been identified as eight-year-old Shafaqat and eight-year-old Abdul Rehman, resident of Gondal Chowk Kotlakhpat. Upon being informed, police high ups, number of locals, rescue teams and victims’ family members reached the spot where rescuers pulled the dead bodies of two children.

The victim parents of deceased said that both went missing yesterday as they went to take water on filter point situated in Race club and did not come back home. Race Club Labour Incharge Qutab Sher told the police that normally some people lived behind a race club came to here for filter water and adding that both children came here last day but surprisingly disappeared after short time. He said that nobody knows that both children went to pond for bath which depth is around 20 feet.

SP Model Town Mustanser Feroaz said that police were notified about the bodies when Lahore Race Club workers took horses to pond for bath. They immediately informed the race club authority about children. He added that police high ups also visited the spot and monitored the whole situation. He said that DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf directed that the actual cause of death could be investigated thoroughly and presented detail report front on him soon.

Mustanser said that initially it seemed that both children drowned in pond but the actual reason behind this tragic incident could be cleared after postmortem report and comprehensive investigation for all angels. Bodies were sent to city mortuary for autopsy.
