Police arrest alleged murderer of transgender activist

PESHAWAR: The city police during a crackdown on Saturday arrested the alleged killer of Alisha, an activist and coordinator of Trans Action Alliance.

The 23-year-old was shot six times by a gang and succumbed to her wounds due to negligence on part of the staff at the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar.

The police arrested the alleged murderer, Fazal Gujjar, during a raid in Qazi Kaley area of Peshawar and launched an investigation.

On Friday, Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information Mushtaq Ghani had said the provincial government would announce a comprehensive policy in the upcoming budget for the transgender community.
