FAISALABAD: The FIA has arrested a clerk of Revenue Office in WAPDA Faisalabad and his accomplice for their alleged involvement in a multi-million rupees fraud. The FIA also obtained a physical remand of Hafiz Aqeel Ahmad and Asif Hussain from a local magistrate court. According to the FIA, the detained officails had embezzled million of rupees against the electricity bills by stamping bills with a fake stamp. The two clerks allegedly collected Rs. 460 million from the WAPDA consumers on the account of electricity bills in connivance with Wada Revenue Office staff, Post Office staff and the computer operator. During the investigation, the two accused told the FIA that staff members of the post office, certain private persons and senior officers of Wapda were also involved in the fraud who used to receive their share running into millions of rupees. FIA is conducting raids for arresting other employees of Wapda, the Post Office allegedly involved in the scam.
