ISLAMABAD: A judicial magistrate on Monday issued arrest warrants for Sheikh Rohail Asghar, a lawmaker of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-N, in a case pertaining to murder of a security guard in a road accident.

The accused failed to appear before the court when the case against Asghar and his driver Zulfiqar came up for hearing. During the previous hearing, both the accused did not deposit a surety against a bail granted to them by the court. The judge expressed displeasure after the accused failed to appear before the case.

The counsel for the accused said that his clients were supposed to deposit surety in cash but they did not draw the money from the bank. The judge issued arrest warrants for both the accused. Raza Muhammad – a security guard of a private company – was killed after he was hit by a vehicle owned by Asghar.

The court had ordered the police to register case against Asghar and his driver on an application filed by the wife of the deceased security guard.
