LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain Wednesday said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should immediately visit Afghanistan and Iran to reduce tensions.

In a statement, former prime minister Shujaat Hussain said that the premier should have visited Afghanistan and Iran and held detailed meetings with foreign ministers of both countries. “I had earlier asked that foreign affairs in-charge should visit Afghanistan and hold talks with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Afghanistan Chief Executive Abdullah-Abdullah to improve the situation.” He said that the Afghan president has refused to visit Pakistan. “Even then I will say that Nawaz Sharif should visit Afghanistan for the larger interest of Pakistan before the situation get worse,” he added. He expressed concern over suicide attacks on Iranian parliament and the shrine of Imam Khomeini.
