OIC secretary general calls on Sartaj

ISLAMABAD: Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani called on Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz here at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.

The secretary general was on a visit to Pakistan to attend the15th session of COMSTECH general assembly, a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

In the meeting, a range of issues were discussed including Pakistan’s contribution, as ‘COMSTECH host’, in promoting cooperation in science and technology in Muslim countries, condition of Muslim communities in non-OIC countries and regional and global political issues.

The adviser emphasised on Pakistan’s role as a leading Muslim country in the area of science and technology and stressed on the development of education, research, science and technology in the Muslim world.

Aziz assured the secretary general of Pakistan’s readiness and full cooperation in assisting COMSTECH in the preparations for the first OIC summit on science and technology.

The secretary general appreciated the efforts undertaken by Pakistan for the development of science and technology in the Muslim world by hosting COMSTECH.

Madani also expressed concern on the situation of Muslim minorities in non-OIC countries. He paid his gratitude to the Pakistani government on successfully organising the 15 session of COMSTECH general assembly.
