QUETTA: Unidentified armed assailants gunned down a police official on Wednesday in the provincial capital. The police sources said that unidentified armed attackers riding a motorcycle opened fire at Sub-Inspector Mukhtar Ahmed when he was on his way on Smuggli Road, leaving him critically injured. The injured was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The assailants managed to escape. The police cordoned off the area to trace the suspects. Earlier, Mukhtar Ahmed had performed the duty as station house officer (SHO) at Shalkot Police Station Shalkot and presently was performing his duty at Police Line Quetta. The funeral procession of the martyr was offered at Police Line Quetta which was attended by Balochistan Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ahsan Mehboob and other officials.
